Now you're allowed to miss as much as you want but the best way to get the most points is by getting a streak of landing on fish. After 3 consecutive Green Fish, Eels will start to appear and after 3 more consecutive landings (doesn't have to be Eels) Squid will appear, and finally, after another 5 consecutive landings on any fish makes the Whale appear. BUT once the Whale shows up; you don't want to catch the whale because once you do it will reset your streak back to 1 green fish.

Overview

Fishing is a Warrior/Barbarian based skill found in World 2 through the left portal in town.

The Fishing area contains a Fishingrack.png Fishing Rack, 2 Fishingspot.gif Fishing spots, a whale named NPCWhattso.png Whattso that gives a couple of Fishing-related quests and a portal to the next Fishing area. (Requires level 15 Fishing)

You can start fishing as soon as your character has access to the second World, Yum Yum Desert. Simply click on the fish you can see swimming in the water and your character will begin fishing. Eventually, he will pull a fish from the water which will fly up and bash you in the head causing damage to your character, however, if your character has enough defense, no damage will be taken. Each type of fish requires a certain amount of defense to endure.

For example, my fisherman has 26 defense and takes 25 points of damage when hit with a Hermit can.

Efficiency

Now onto Efficiency. Efficiency works a little different here than in other skills. Besides the amount of fish you get, Efficiency also effects which type of fish you get too. All 4 fish in the game currently can be caught from the first area, with increasing % chance in the next.

Goldfish.png

Straight off the bat, you have 100% efficiency for the first fish, Goldfish (Green X)

Hermit Can.png

50 Efficiency is required to have a chance to catch Hermit Can (Yellow X)

Jellyfish.png

200 Efficiency is required to have a chance to catch Jellyfish (Red X)

Bloach.png

400 Efficiency is required to have a chance to catch Bloach (Purple X)

See how I said chance to catch? That's because when you have enough efficiency for the next fish, your percentage for the fish before gets reduced and added to the next.

Another example: My fisherman is level 11 fishing, has 193 efficiency, using fly as bait, spoons LoI line and Copper Fish Rod, my percentages are 68% for Goldfish and 32% for Hermit Can.

Note that each Fishingspot.gif fishing spot has different rates for fish. For example, if you look at AFK gains at the Fishing spot closest to the desert town you will notice that your goldfish gains are different than the second Fishing spot by Whattso.

Drops

Apart from fish, you can also get various other items from fishing.

Skills

These are the skills that affect fishing efficiency and gains.

Droptable for Fishing

File:Apsolute Unit.png Absolute Unit Increases efficiency through strength Warrior
File:Fistful of Obol.png Fistful of Obol Increases strength gained from Obols by 1.2%, +1.2% per upgrade

thus increasing efficiency

So for a recap, more efficiency means catching more fish and access to higher tiers of fish but with a higher % chance to catch higher tier fish.

Fishing Minigame

This page is to lay out the mechanics of the Fishing Minigame and also some tips and tricks.

The aim of the game is, of course, to get as many points as possible by 'casting', holding on screen (mobile) or holding left click (PC) for the required time; then letting go to cast far enough to land on the MGgreenfish.png fish without hitting a MGfsh5.png mine.

When your lure MGlure.png lands on a fish you get the corresponding points.

MGgreenfish.png 1 point for Green Fish

MGyellowfish.png 2 points for Eel

MGpurplefish.png 3 points for Squid

MGbluefish.png 5 points for Whale

The more casts you do the harder it gets, the fish targets start to move and more mines will appear on the screen.

The real challenge is to NEVER miss. I put emphasis on this because no matter how many mines there are on the screen; if you still land on a fish, even if it is directly on top of a mine, it will still count as landing on a fish and you will not lose the game.

Now you're allowed to miss as much as you want but the best way to get the most points is by getting a streak of landing on fish. After 3 consecutive Green Fish, Eels will start to appear and after 3 more consecutive landings (doesn't have to be Eels) Squid will appear, and finally, after another 7 consecutive landings on any fish makes the Whale appear. Be careful once the Whale shows up; catching it will reset your streak back to 1 green fish!

In 1.22, an item will tell you how to get the last one, the Megalodon Megalodon.png. You will have to catch two whales in a row, then miss the third one. Then the "behemoth" will appear. Catching it will give you a new trophy.
