Obols are collectibles of various shapes (Circle, Square, Hexagon and Sparkle) which may be placed on character or family (account-wide) slots at the Obol Altar.
You need to unlock the altar via a quest but may only complete it after defeating Amarok, the boss of World 1.
Acquiring Obols
After activating the merit in the Yum-Yum Desert Merit Shop, obols can drop from:
- Any enemy or boss with a Rare Drop table
- Any skill that can be AFKed (Mining, Choppin, Fishing, Catching)
Obols can also be obtained from:
Obol Altar
Unequipped Obols are not stored in the stash or in the inventory but in a special Obol Storage, accessible via the Obol Altar. You can increase the size of your Obol storage with Salt Lick upgrades and Gem Shop purchases.
The Obol Altar can also be used to Reroll Stats or Combine identical Obols for a chance at a higher rarity obol.
Equipping Obols
Each slot in the Obol Altar has a level requirement. On the Personal tab, it is that character's class level. On the Family tab, it is the total class level of your characters combined.

Obol Rerolling
- "X" Depends on the obol's tier (1 for bronze, 2 for silver, etc).
- As with equipment, every obol has "base" stats, which never change. A re-roll simply modifies the "bonus" stats. The bonus stats from a previous re-roll are irrelevant, being erased every time you re-roll.
- If both rolls choose the same stat, the second roll will replace the first (treating the 1st roll like you got nothing).
When rerolling obols, 2 independent rolls are made, each having the following chance:
Type | Circle | Square | Hexagon | Sparkle |
---|---|---|---|---|
Weapon/Skill Power | 0% | 0% | 9.1%: -1 ~ +1 | 9.1%: -1 ~ +1 |
Str | 20%: -1 ~ +X | 20%: -1 ~ +X | 18.2%: -1 ~ +X | 18.2%: -1 ~ +X |

Obol Combining
Two identical obols can be combined to create a single Obol of higher rarity, as long as a higher rarity Obol exists. (Boss Obols cannot be combined, as they do not have an upgrade path.)
Bronze Obols become Silver, Silver becomes Gold, Gold becomes Platinum and Platinum becomes Dementia. Some Obols change shape when combining, so refer to the tables below to make sure you are not combining Obols into a shape you're unable to equip.
When combining the chance to succeed or lose an Obol and the cost are as follows:
Bronze | Silver | Gold | Platinum | Dementia | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Success | 25% | 20% | 17% | 14% | 13% (TBA) |
Lost Obol | 10% | 5% | 0% | 0% | - |
Frag. Cost | 2 | 6 | 14 | 32 | - |
Gold Cost | 14 14 | 1 67 50 | 15 22 18 | 1 19 62 80 | - |
Obol Fragmenting
In order to reroll and combine Obols you must spend fragments, which are primarily gained by destroying Obols you are not using. Secondarily they can be obtained from Arcade Rewards, which is unlocked once you speak to the Clown on World 2 beside Desert Davey. The amount of fragments per Obol is tied to that Obol's tier. By completing the W2 Achievement "Golden Obolen!" you will receive +20% more fragments when destroying Obols. Note that the bonus fragments round DOWN to the nearest whole number, so you will only receive extra fragments from gold or better.
Tier | Base Fragments | Fragments w/ Achievement |
---|---|---|
Bronze | 1 | 1 |
Silver | 3 | 3 |
Gold | 8 | 9 |
Platinum/Boss | 20 | 24 |
Dementia | 50 | 60 |
Obols
NOTE: As long as an Obol is a higher rarity version of another Obol in the same family, it can be obtained by combining two lower rarity Obols.
